Lake Norman Regional Hosts Free Surgical Weight Loss Seminar: Understanding Surgical Weight Loss

Mooresville, NC - Lake Norman Regional Medical Center will hold a free educational seminar on surgical weight loss, Monday, June 29, at 7:00 pm.

Ryan Heider, MD, Medical Director of the Surgical Center for Weight Loss at Lake Norman, will explain the procedure and process from the initial consultation to post-op nutritional counseling. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.

Morbid obesity is a life-threatening disease that affects 15 million people in the U.S. A landmark study published in the October 2004 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association found that bariatric surgery improved or resolved type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea and high cholesterol in the vast majority of morbidly obese patients. Most patients had lost 55 to 70 percent of their excess weight one year after bariatric surgery.

Call 704-660-HLTH (4584) for additional information about the Surgical Center for Weight Loss, and register to attend this free seminar.
